Swiss Post fees

Swiss Post Customs Clearance Fees

Swiss Post charges a customs clearance fee when it handles import formalities for parcels entering Switzerland.

Published fee formula

Swiss Post lists a basic customs clearance fee of CHF 13 for countries in the European Union and overseas territories, and CHF 16 for other countries. It also charges 3% of the goods value including shipping, services, and customs duties.

The maximum customs clearance price is CHF 70. Swiss Post states its listed prices are excluding VAT.

When it is likely charged

The clearance fee usually matters when an import assessment is made and VAT or duties are billed. If calculated VAT is below CHF 5, import VAT is generally not invoiced, which often avoids the practical fee shock on very small parcels.

Extra services can add cost

Incorrect declarations, value clarification, address correction, storage, or special checks can add fees. Restricted goods can also trigger extra duties, taxes, or authorizations.
